‘Land of the Inca – A South American Journey'.
In 2000, when on a spontaneous solo trip to the heart of Peru, Margaret spent many hours on Machu Picchu, The Colca Canyon, Nazca Lines, Chile, Easter Island ... and danced Latin till the early hours!
‘It was a profound journey, breathtaking, stunning, even divine! This collection of paintings reflects the colour and magnificence of a past culture and the need for us to be in tune with the earth as the ancients were.
'Pepe's Freedom' is a painting which reflects the cruelty of any wildlife being caged. At the little airstrip near the Nazca lines I was shown a magnificent Condor which had been caged for approximately 13 years. His mate had died 10 years previously, so there he was, shut alone in a tiny cage, with viewers photographing him daily. My emails on his plight didn’t reach the right people, so I like to think this painting in its visual impact may help to free beautiful birds like Pepe! In the Indian tradition – the visual sets the spirit free. |
